YouTube is preferable platform for both newbie and expert bloggers to monetize extra income.
Since YouTube is the authority media platform so the advertising fee (CPC) is higher than some blogs that have less authority.
Furthermore, people are more enjoying video than plain text why YouTube being a popular platform.

You can get some good advertising money from YouTube videos as you point out. I think the best way to use YouTube for revenue is to do affiliate reviews as you said, and to link them to your blog.
That way you have an opportunity to earn commissions, plus drive people to your blog.

Riju you're on the right track just slightly off course. It's not that YouTube is crowded, that's not the issue. It's about whether your niche is 'crowded' and how you deal with that !! Your reference to 'low selective....' - I think should've been made regarding keyword research because that's about looking at choosing your keywords with good search volume but low competitive ranking. At the end of the day whether blogging OR vlogging the main point is that "quality content" is still paramount and BOTH regardless of capital outlay require commitment to hard work in order to be successful. There is no such thing as an 'overnight sensation !'. Even viral videos require good business & marketing skills in order to be monetised correctly. Keep doin what you're doin my friend and 'keep building on your knowledge and skill set and work hard !'. You'll get there.
